Check out this old fishing reel

Granted that you are a Snook fisherman then you appreciate what these amounts indicate. But, if you are not then 28-32 inches is the slot that your keeper snook have to be in to keep them. Snook are truly super preserved fish, and they should certainly be. I like to consider them as my pets because I generally catch in release. I ordinarily only keep only one per year. This is undoubtedly my first post and I am pretty much just mastering the theme and playing around with some of the settings-- there will be more useful content as the webpages grows!

I originally relocated to Southern Florida 5 years ago (2007). I hung around down here for about 9 months at that time and proceeded to wander around the country. Inside a year of deserting I decided to come back for good, it was the reeffishing that called me back. Presently there is nothing at all like it, if you have never ever fished South Florida then you are missing out-- that simple.

So here I am, still living North of West Palm Beach. One of the primary areas that showed me how to grapple big fish was actually the Palm Beach Inlet Pump House, it is nick named Snook Heaven.

We have a blast when we here. The Snook are always nipping here, no mater which time of year. I have landed lunkers day, night time, summer, and winter. Its full of typically middle size Snook, but there are some bigger swimming around hanging around for some fresh baits. Snook are not the only fish that I have caught out here-- we have landed every little thing ruing bait runs-- even monstrosity Tarpon.

So yeah, I learned how to fish the Inlet. At the time I was residing on Singer Island and pretty much explored all over that island searching for spots. Getting the deputies called on me was quite common, but even they started to get an outstanding report with me. The cops on Singer Island happen to be rather laid back if you present them some respect (just like many deputies), they truly just don't like assholes (pardon my french). I only did everything I should do to get in the water. I did a lot of wade fishing that year, waist deep inside the inter coastal fishing soft baits in the mangs with my strong Stradic-- those were the good old days!

There was this one spot that I loved to go, it was right in front of this ladies apartment. I would always park like one-half a kilometer away since she had already contacted the cops on me 3 or 4 times. I always remember slipping into the mangs and wading out along with my rod and knapsack praying that I would not get snipped by a shark. This woman must have continuously been on the prowl for people fishing there since whenever I would walk out in front of where the Mangroves stopped and into the location that was in front of her apartment, I would certainly usually see her waiting in the big picture home window. Once I caught on to where to park so she could not screw me, I would just look happy, wave, and cast ever so in harmony into that inter coastal sea. That year I lived on Singer Island was one of the best seasons of my life.

In fishing the pump house and wading the spots I located in the inter coastal, I was able to meet certain cool residents that were down to coach me up on fishing down here. I am super grateful for those guys and hopefully you will get to hear more about them in my later posts.

    new fishing rod site

Lets talk concerning one of the reels I do own, the Shimano Stradic FI 4000

The fundamental feature I like concerning this reel is that fact it is light weight and super resilient. When I commenced to learn salt water fishing I went out and bought some random rod and reel combination with this massive freakin reel on it. After I casted that thing about 25 instances, I was ready to call it a day. With the Stradic FI 4000, I can cast thousand of times with no getting the minimum bit worn down. I scorched through a few other small off brand name reels attempting to keep light in weight tackle, and then I discovered this tiny baby. Im pretty darn sure that this reel will forever be my favorite. I have the Shimano Stradic FI 4000 specifications noted below. Now this is for the older style of Stradic fishing reel made by Shimano. They do have a never version out that I haven't tried yet, but it looks really sweet.

Line Capacity (lb|yds) 8|240, 10|200, 12|160-- What is this? This is a small reel in assessment to big game fishing reels, but it is all you require for catching fish from shore. I have actually landed 80 + pound Tarpon on this reel. One feature to remember with the line scope is that the specs are for mono filament line, if you are using braided line (and that you should be in my advice) then the reel will hold way more line than what is represented by the spec capacity.

Gear Ratio 5.8:1 - This is good. Every one time you reel the handle, it takes the reel almost 6 complete revolutions. It makes for reeling in a hefty sea beast a little less difficult, just remember to keep your rod tip up so the fish doesn't break you off!

Line retrieve per crank 36 inches - This is related to the gear ratio Weight 11.6 oz - This is one of my favorite things about this reel! When I am casting artificial baits 100 times over and over, I don't like to use a heavy reel because my arm will get tired very quickly.

Additional Features - Aluminum frame + graphite sideplate and rotor, S-Concept, S A-RB bearings, Fluidrive II, Super Stopper II, Machined aluminum handle shank, AERO Wrap II, waterproof drag, Maintenance port, Repairable clicker, and Bearings 5BB, 1RB

I used to feel that I could possibly just step into a tackle specialty shop, grab some low-cost combo and be on my way. As a matter of fact, most individuals that I fished with at the time felt the same way. What I found was that I was fishing with the wrong people. The pros are using good gear, and do there research on spots. They are not only good at what they do because they use good tackle, but it has a whole lot to do with it. I dropped a link to this real for you below because it has been one of the greatest invests I have ever made in my fishing tackle.

I was fishing the St. Croix Legend Elite along with the Shimano Stradic 4000 as my own unique combo for beyond a year at this time. I call her "Lady of the Lake", and she is grand. I love this set up more than any other rod I have. Its lightweight, fast, and accurate. I can skip baits under mangroves with no problem, and the rod is primarily strong enough to handle massive fish. I have landed 60 pound tarpon with this rod. I have found some solid specs on this rod, but words could not describe how glad I am that I made this investment.

I want to start off by talking on my life-time guaranty. I feel at ease understanding that when I take this rod out on the water I don't have to worry about hooking some thing "too big". If the rod gets broken in half by one of the sea beasts that live off the shores of Palm Beach then St Croix will replace it for life!

St. Croix has been delivering superb fishing rods for several years and they are well known for their high quality and all American fishing gear. But there are two more advancements that divide them from other premium rod companies. It's their new and exciting advanced SCV graphite and the new high tech IPC tooling process that has been applied to their Legend Elite series rods.

St. Croix Legend Elite (ES66MF) Specs - The material they use is some cutting edge stuff, its called SCv high-modulus|high-strain graphite. It makes a world of difference for me because it keeps the rod light weight and super strong. I don't want to be tired after my 50th cast.

Love at First site: As quickly as I took this rod up at my neighborhood tackle shop I was simply hooked. It was so LIGHT WEIGHT! It was virtually unbelievable. I mean come on 3.5 OZ! Then I saw the price tag, and set it back down. The moment I started checking out the alternative stuff in there, the guy managing the store walked over and grabbed the St Croix. He stated "You have any idea how awesome this rod is?" and at that point went ahead to sell me on it.
